On Saturday, May 17, Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is proud to join in a momentous celebration: the 160th anniversary of the Nevada Appeal, Nevada’s oldest continuously operating newspaper.
As a longstanding part of the Carson City community, we are honored to stand alongside other local businesses to recognize this milestone and the important role the Nevada Appeal has played in informing, connecting, and supporting our region for generations.
We invite you to join us between 2 and 5 p.m. at the Carson City Multi-Purpose Athletic Center, located at 1860 Russell Way.
The event is free and open to the public, offering a great opportunity to explore Carson City’s vibrant local business community, meet neighbors, and discover resources you may not have known were right around the corner.
At Walton’s, we believe that community is at the heart of everything we do.
During the event, our caring and experienced team from Walton’s Chapel of the Valley will be available to answer your questions, share information about our services, and explain how we support families through life’s most meaningful moments—with dignity, compassion, and care.
Whether you’re interested in pre-planning, have questions about funeral or cremation options, or simply want to stop by and say hello, we welcome the chance to connect with you.
As the Nevada Appeal marks 160 years of journalism and public service, it serves as a powerful reminder of how vital strong, connected communities are. Walton’s is honored to be part of that fabric here in Carson City, and we look forward to continuing to serve our neighbors with professionalism and care for many years to come.
We hope to see you there.

At Walton’s Funerals & Cremations, supporting our community has always been a core part of who we are. We are honored to once again sponsor Senior Celebration, a beloved annual event dedicated to promoting health, happiness, and independent living for seniors and their families in northern Nevada.
This year’s Senior Celebration takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Casino Fandango in Carson City. The free event is not only an excellent resource for information about products and services geared toward seniors, but it also serves an important cause: raising funds to provide one-time emergency assistance to local seniors in need.
Senior Celebration brings together a variety of organizations and experts who are passionate about enriching the lives of older adults. Attendees will find valuable resources on wellness, financial planning, home care, mobility aids, and much more — all designed to help seniors live independently, safely, and happily.
At Walton’s, we are excited to be part of the conversation by sharing information about the importance of pre-planning. Planning ahead for funeral and cremation arrangements is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give your loved ones. It provides peace of mind, ensures your wishes are honored, and removes emotional and financial burdens from family members during a difficult time. Our knowledgeable team will be available at the event to answer questions and offer guidance on how pre-planning can be a simple and empowering step.
We invite you to stop by our booth to say hello, learn more, and pick up helpful resources. Whether you’re beginning to consider pre-planning or simply gathering information for the future, we’re here to help — with compassion and care.
We hope to see you at Senior Celebration 2025!
Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more supportive community for the seniors who mean so much to all of us.
At Walton’s Funerals & Cremations, we believe everyone deserves dignity, comfort, and care at the end of life—regardless of their circumstances. That’s why we were honored to sponsor a table at the Circle of Life Hospice Dignity Dinner, held on April 11, 2025.

This meaningful event is more than just a dinner. It’s a powerful fundraiser that directly supports the Circle of Life Hospice House, a unique facility that provides compassionate care for individuals who are nearing the end of life but lack the resources or family support to care for them.
Located here in northern Nevada, Circle of Life Hospice offers medical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients and their families—ensuring that no one faces life’s final chapter alone. The Hospice House plays a critical role in the community, welcoming those who may not have a home, caregiver, or financial means to receive hospice care elsewhere.
We were moved by the stories shared at the event—stories of hope, resilience, and grace in the face of life’s most difficult moments. Events like the Dignity Dinner remind us of the deep human need for connection and support, and the power of community when it comes together for a cause greater than ourselves.
At Walton’s, our commitment to care doesn’t stop at our doors. We’re proud to partner with organizations like Circle of Life Hospice that share our mission of providing compassion, dignity, and peace during life’s most vulnerable times.

Walton’s Funerals and Cremations proudly sponsored a table at the 2025 Nevada Military Support Alliance Gala on Saturday, March 1, at the Peppermill Casino and Resort in Reno.
The Nevada Military Support Alliance organizes and promotes the recognition, support and appreciation of Nevada’s active military members, veterans, and their families.
While the foundation dates back to 2003, it expanded in 2010 to not only support military families of fallen service members, but to also assist those returning home from the battlefield with catastrophic injuries.
About 1,000 people were in attendance at this year’s event.

It is a privilege to be able to honor these lives and give grieving families a place to remember their loved ones. The 14th Annual “A Time For Remembrance” is October 13th, 1-3pm, at Snowflake Pavilion at Idlewild Park
Losing a loved one is one of life’s most challenging experiences. During such times of grief and emotional vulnerability, choosing the right funeral home can provide invaluable comfort and support. This is why it is so important to select a funeral home that meets your needs with compassion, professionalism and respect.
Here are some important things to consider when making this significant decision:
1. Reputation and Experience: Look for a funeral home with a solid reputation in the community and years of experience in providing funeral services. Reputation is often built on the trust and the quality of care provided to grieving families. To help find the right funeral home, you can ask friends, family, or even your religious community for recommendations.
2. Services Offered: Funeral homes offer a range of services beyond just the basic arrangements. Consider what services are important to you and your family. This may include traditional funerals, cremation options, memorial services, or even pre-planning services. Ensure that the funeral home you choose can accommodate your specific preferences.
3. Personalization: Every family and individual is unique, and so are their preferences. A good funeral home should be willing to personalize services to reflect the life and personality of the deceased. Whether it’s through customized caskets or urns, unique tributes, or special music selections, the ability to tailor services makes a significant difference and therefore should be offered by a reputable funeral home.
4. Professionalism and Compassion: During such a sensitive time, it is crucial to work with professionals who demonstrate empathy and understanding. The professionalism and humanity of the staff cannot be understated as these are the people that you will be counting on to guide you through some of the most difficult moments in your life. The staff should be respectful of your cultural, religious, and personal beliefs, and should be able to provide guidance and support throughout the entire process.
5. Pricing and Transparency: Funerals can be expensive, so it’s important to have a clear understanding of the costs involved. A reputable funeral home should provide a detailed price list upfront and be transparent about any additional fees or charges. Don’t hesitate to ask questions about pricing and payment options.
6. Pre-planning Options: If you are considering pre-planning your own funeral or that of a loved one, look for a funeral home that offers pre-arrangement services. This allows you to make decisions calmly and ensures that your wishes are known and respected when the time comes.
7. Trust Your Instincts: Ultimately, trust your instincts when choosing a funeral home. You should feel comfortable and confident in the funeral director and staff who will be assisting you. If something doesn’t feel right or if you have concerns, don’t hesitate to explore other options.
Remember, choosing a funeral home is a deeply personal decision and finding the right fit can provide peace of mind during a challenging time. By considering these factors and trusting your instincts, you can ensure that you and your family receive the support and care you deserve.
